Department of Clinical Medicine & Surgery
The diploma course is offered for a duration of 3 academic years with two semesters of
15 weeks each.
Requirements for admission are:
1. KCSE mean grade of C plain and above
2. Mathematics/ Physics C-
3. English/Kiswahili C plain and above
4. Biology C plain and above
5. Chemistry C- and above
Our students have daily ward rotation and practical at St. Mary's mission hospital Mumias.
Expected Learning outcome

5. Referral of complicated cases.
6. Filling medical legal documents.
7. Management of health facilities.

9. Carry out Community diagnosis.

11. Supervise students on attachment.
12. Effectively facilitate clinical teaching, training and mentorship of interns
13. Facilitate Community education, school health education among other health
promotion and health preventive services.

The entry requirements for both certificate and diploma courses are a mean grade of D
Plain and C- (minus) respectively. The exam bodies ABMA & Internal
For one to qualify for the course, he or she should have attained a D+ for certificate and
C- Minus for diploma.

The course above is offered in a duration of 1 year and 1 ½ years for certificate and diploma respectively. The course provides students with the basic psychology knowledge,
Skills, attitudes and experiences that will enable them to fully understand the behavior
Patterns of different people for the purposes of intervening appropriately.
